Schlumberger using Frontline X-Inspect

Using Frontline on the RealWear HMT-1 (head mounted tablet), Schlumberger technicians perform assisted inspections on heavy trucks and trailers.  Technicians use HMT voice operated interface to log inspection results in real-time. The HMT-1 includes a 16mp camera that can visually annotate inspection steps to provide thorough documentation of the inspection process. Upon a satisfactory step being completed, Frontline’s application allows the technician to proceed to the next step.  Unsatisfactory findings are sent to experts in real-time for faster resolution time. Inspection software on the HMT-1 head mounted tablet give the benefit of hands-free inspections to be performed faster, with thorough documentation and evidence to support inspection steps.

Wind Turbine Maintenance

Focusing on safety and security of front line workers performing field maintenance and repairs on wind turbines and other clean energy sources.  Using a hands-free computer to do your job is now available by using just your voice to operate a head-mounted computer, even in extremely noisy or difficult to reach extreme environments. HMT-1 is IP66 waterproof, dust-proof, and drop-proof onto concrete from a height of 2 meters. Lightweight and built to be worn throughout a full shift, the battery on a RealWear HMT-1 will last a full shift of 9 – 10 hours under normal conditions.

SAUDI ARAMCO Recognized For Adopting Industry 4.0 Technologies Such As Voice-Controlled Headsets

Saudi Aramco’s Uthmaniyah Gas Plant (UGP) was named a “Lighthouse” manufacturing facility by the World Economic Forum. UGP was one of 16 factories from an initial list of 1,000 manufacturers which WEF originally unveiled in September 2018. UGP was selected based upon its successful implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies that drive financial and operational impact. One aspect of Saudi Aramco’s digital transformation strategy that earned UGP the “Lighthouse” designation was its use of drones and wearable technologies. When Saudi Aramco adopted these solutions to inspect pipelines and machinery, they were able to reduce UGP’s inspection time by 90%.

TOTAL to deploy high-tech helmets for COVID-19 safety

A test of high-tech helmets at French oil major Total’s petrochemical plant in La Porte has led the company to deploy them as a COVID-19 safety measure at its facilities around the world.

Total and Vancouver, Wash. based RealWear, which makes the audio- and video-equipped helmets, announced the deal Wednesday morning. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Similar technology has existed for years, but RealWear’s gear uses Microsoft Teams, a video conferencing platform that has become popular during the coronavirus pandemic. Using the voice-enabled software, plant employees wearing the smart helmet can work hands-free and share what they are doing and interact with engineers, vendors and experts in real time.
“Connecting our field operators to Total’s experts and vendors, down the street or on the other side of the world, is particularly topical at a time when traveling is restricted,” Total Senior Vice Presideent Eric Duchesne said.

This FAT refers to the functional test that is performed by Ventil upon completion of the manufacturing process to prove the equipment has the same specification and functionality that indicated in the specification, purchase order and last but not least meets customers expectations. These FATs are typically witnessed by a customer representative (purchaser) and/or 3rd party inspector. Their physical presence is normally required…..until now…..Ventil’s Live Streaming FATs are a great way to reach their esteemed customers and increase engagement by allowing viewers to comment and ask questions.

Airbus Helicopters has worked diligently to determine the best way for helicopter assembly and maintenance inspections to be documented. The meticulous documentation, components, and steps are to ensure the safety of both passengers and the public. When maintaining and overhauling gearboxes for Airbus Helicopters, workers were challenged with taking pictures, uploading images to a computer and documenting each step.
